About our concrete company in Berkeley
We're a Berkeley concrete contractor that builds driveways, patios, steps and slabs, and we explain the ground prep and drainage behind each one before we pour.
How I came to concrete in Berkeley
I worked on concrete crews every summer all through school, and I learned the trade by doing the work and asking why. In 2023 I started this business in Berkeley so I could run jobs the way I'd learned they should go, with the reasons explained to the person paying for them.
We're known for driveways, patios, steps and the slab work under homes. I care most about the work you can't see once the concrete's down, the ground prep, the drainage and the joint layout, because that's where a concrete job goes right or wrong. You'll find the rest of what we build on our home page.
I come out to look at your job and write the estimate myself. Our own crew does the work, and I'm on site running it. I want you to understand your project well enough to ask good questions, of us or of anyone else you're talking to.
- The owner at your site
- Drainage planned before the pour
- Joints laid out where cracks belong
- A written estimate you can compare
What hiring our concrete crew is like
We treat your yard and your schedule like they matter, because they do. That means a clear plan before we dig, a crew that cleans up and straight answers when you ask why.
You talk to the owner
I walk your site and explain each step in plain words, so you know what you're paying for and why.
Water that runs away
We check where water runs before we set forms, so the finished slab sheds water away from your house, not toward it.
Cracks where we plan them
Concrete shrinks as it dries and can crack, so we lay out control joints, shallow cut lines that guide where it cracks.
A base dug and packed
We dig out and pack the subgrade, the ground under the slab, and I'd trim the finish before I'd trim that to save money.
Estimates you can compare
Your estimate is free, has no obligation and is written out so you can see what's included and set it beside other bids.
Licensed and insured
We carry the contractor license California requires on jobs of $1,000 or more, plus insurance. Satisfaction guaranteed on every job.
How we run a concrete job
Every job is planned on paper before anyone digs, and the site is kept clear as we go, so you know what's happening in your yard and why.
First visit
We reply within one business day, then I come out myself to look at your ground, the slope and where water goes.
Estimate and permits
I write your free, no-obligation estimate so you can see what's included, then we file whatever permits your city or county office needs.
Base and forms
We prepare the base and set the form boards the way the plan calls for, and I meet the inspector when it's time.
The pour
Our own crew pours and finishes the slab with me running it, and we skip midday heat, which can leave a weak, dusty top.
Finish and clean-up
We cut the joints and clean up, then tell you how long the slab needs to harden before you walk or drive on it.
